When supporting your child with letter formation we encourage children to form letters correctly and correct them when they don't.This stops habits forming that will subsequently hinder them when progressing to a cursive form of handwriting. Please follow the link that explains the correct letter formation: Letter formation
In Class 1 we expect children to read with an adult at least three times a week. It is important that reading is reinforced at home as this promotes fluency and allows children then to become more confident readers. We are then able to teach the inference and deduction skills that take childrens' comprehension to a deeper level of understanding.
We celebrate reading at home by awarding a weekly 'Reading Champion' in school.
An in-depth overview of English in Class 1 can be found in our curiulum section, under 'writing'.
